A worker was caught on camera being bashed about the head after two would-be thieves tried to walk out of the store pushing a couple of shopping carts filled to the brim.

In a short clip posted to , two brazen shoplifters were caught on cellphone footage pushing their fully loaded carts toward the exit of the store.

Suddenly a heroic shop worker places themselves in between both carts and attempts to stop them from leaving.

One of the thieves then grabs several coat hangers and begins hitting the female shop worker over the head several times. 

The employee ducks down in an attempt to avoid being struck but it makes little difference. 

A second shoplifting accomplice then appears while wearing a bright red towel over their head, in an attempt to avoid being identified. 

Rather than face the shop worker, they instead head straight out of the door knowing the jig is up.

Meanwhile, feeling frustrated that his attempt to steal likely hundreds of dollars worth of goods has been thwarted, the shoplifter once again attacks the Walmart worker, hitting them over the head with another batch of plastic hangars.

The worker keeps their head down until it finally appears the coast is clear and the two would-be crooks have left the building.

Although it is unclear when or where the video was shot, it has clearly resonated with viewers having generated more than 321,00 likes in the course of one week. 

In recent years there have been several videos posted online whereby criminals simply take whatever they like from store shelves and walk out of the door unimpeded.

From pharmacies to supermarkets, clothes shops to jewelry stores, many have decided that it is a chance worth taking and that any punishment they might face will be either extremely light or non-existent.

It appears this particular worker finally had enough of others taking advantage.
